Have You Been Thinking About Getting a Hair Transplant for a While?

Hair loss can be an emotionally distressing experience for many, impacting self-esteem and overall quality of life. However, with the advent of advanced medical technology, hair restoration surgeries such as Precise Follicular Placement (PFP) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) have become popular and effective solutions.

Factors Influencing the Cost of Hair Transplant in New Zealand.

Several elements contribute to the overall hair transplant cost. Let’s discuss these in detail.

Treatment Technique

Various hair transplant techniques are available, each with its unique pricing structure. Three of the most common methods are Precise Follicular Placement (PFP), Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

Extent of Hair Loss

The degree of hair loss significantly affects the cost. More extensive hair loss requires a higher number of grafts for adequate coverage, thus increasing the overall cost.

Desired Hair Density

The desired thickness of the hair from the donor areas also determines the number of grafts needed. A denser look will require more grafts, thereby increasing the cost.

Doctor's Expertise

The surgeon’s experience and reputation play a critical role in determining the cost. Highly skilled and reputable surgeons often charge higher fees for their expertise.

So.. How Much Does a Hair Transplant Cost in Auckland?

The hair transplant cost varies extensively across Australia and New Zealand. However, the average price usually ranges from AUD $6,000 to AUD $20,000 or more.

For instance, the cost for 2,000 hair grafts typically falls between AUD $6,000 to AUD $12,000, while 4,000 hair grafts can cost anywhere from AUD $12,000 to AUD $20,000.

However, it’s important to note that these are just average costs, and the actual price can vary depending on the factors mentioned above.

Watch Out For Unexpected Expenses.

While having clear pricing is vital, it's also crucial for patients to know about possible hidden costs linked with a hair transplant.

These extra expenses might cover medications, aftercare, and follow-up visits. Being aware of these costs upfront enables patients to plan their finances effectively and steer clear of unwelcome financial shocks.

To safeguard against hidden expenses, make sure to ask for a thorough breakdown of all the costs related to the procedure.

Trustworthy clinics such as Gro Clinics will furnish transparent details regarding every expense involved, guaranteeing a full grasp of the financial obligation.

FREQUENLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Got Questions? We've got answers.

Does Gro have a clinic in my area?

At Gro, we have multiple hair transplant clinics located across Australia and New Zealand. Our clinics are located in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth and Auckland.

Why is the Gro hair transplant technique the best?

reGro™ is the leading hair transplant experience in Australia. Precision in both hair follicle extraction and implantation yields consistent and natural results, every time.

- no noticeable scarring, no stitches
- consistent results
- quick recovery
- high hair density
- creates a natural look

When do the transplanted hair follicles start to grow?

The new hairs start gro’ing around the 3-4 month mark. You’ll be able to see your new hairline right after the procedure, but the hair will soon shed before the permanent re-growth begins. Don’t be alarmed when the shedding phase happens, it’s a normal part of the process. As the hair follicles will be at different stages of the natural growth cycle, it takes about 12 months to see full results.

What is the success rate of a hair transplant?

Hair transplantation success is best measured in follicle survival rate, as in how many follicles will take in their new location and start gro’ing hair. At Gro, we consistently achieve amazing results for our clients with a follicle survival rate of over 90% (compared to industry rates that fluctuate between 50-90%). So, over 90% of the follicles implanted into the treatment area continue to gro there for life.

How long do hair transplants last?

Hair transplants are permanent! The results will last as long as the follicles from your donor site. If you are prone to further hair loss, you could still lose hair in other areas, but this can be prevented with prescription treatment.

Read more about Prescription Haircare.

When is hair transplant treatment not possible?

Not everyone is eligible for hair transplant treatment. The most important thing is to determine the cause of hair loss first. Hair transplant treatment is most often used for male and female pattern hair loss, also known as androgenetic alopecia. Sometimes it can also be used to correct aesthetic imperfections, such as an uneven hairline.

A hair transplant is also not possible if the hair loss has progressed to near full baldness, or the donor area is insufficient to support a transplant.

Will I be asleep or awake during the procedure?

You’ll be awake, but the doctor will use local anaesthesia to numb the treatment area.

How long is the downtime?

The typical down time is a week before you can get back office-based (non-physical) work, a month before doing any physical activity or job, and three weeks to a month before being able to wear anything on their head.

What should I expect right after the procedure?

It's normal to experience redness and swelling in the areas where the procedure was done, and it may last from a couple of weeks up to a month. We have services we provide for our patients to help ease after-effects as quickly as possible.

How do I arrange a consult?
